Let's Talk SENse! - Creating a voice for parents & carers in South Northamptonshire
An independent, voluntary, parent led informal and friendly chat support group for all parents/carers of children and young people with learning, physical and behavioural challenges.
As families of SEN/D children often face difficulties throughout their child or young adulthood, Talk SENse! has been set up in rural South Northamptonshire for the local community, welcoming all those with children and young adults of any age and any level of need or disability to come along for a friendly chat and meet up with others in a similar situation. A place for experiences and ideas to be shared, whether it be about services, health, education or well being…the list is endless, as there’s always something to talk about!
Sometimes, knowing others in a similar situation to ourselves can help with the everyday problems that we can face. We parents and carers can find ourselves feeling isolated as we tackle the diverse issues surrounding our children and are also challenged geographically, as many SEN support systems are based in and around Northampton, being some distance away. Talk SENse! aims to create a voice for parents and carers in our part of the world, with a view to gain as much support and information from these groups, and from elsewhere in the wider community.
Often, many tips, ideas and suggestions are passed on via chat and support groups and so we welcome everyone - you may have concerns about your child's behaviour or learning ability (with no diagnosis) or maybe your child is now a young adult, (with diagnosis) and could share your experience with others. Parents and carers of disabled children are of course very welcome too!
